Captain Ohlsen Sunscreen Zinc Stick is an effective mineral sunscreen that effectively blocks UVA and UVB rays. We achieve this through the addition of nano-free zinc oxide.

The coconut oil and shea butter it contains nourish the skin and, combined with beeswax, ensure extreme water resistance. Naturally, the sunscreen comes in a plastic-free push-up stick made from FSC-certified cardboard.

If you're wondering what reef-safe means, I'd be happy to explain. Conventional chemical UV filters (octinoxate and oxybenzone) damage the marine ecosystem and destroy young cells, leading to coral bleaching. In some countries, such as Hawaii and Palau, these chemical UV filters are already banned. Aside from that, they're also suspected of causing allergies.

But the solution is simple: mineral sunscreen!

Sun protection factor of zinc sunscreen

With zinc sunscreen, the SPF is directly related to the thickness of the applied layer. This is why mountaineering and water sports enthusiasts often have those typical white streaks on their faces. The zinc oxide used is white, and sun protection is at its highest when the zinc paste is applied opaquely. However, it's important to note that even then, it doesn't provide 100% UV protection. The best protection is still – avoid direct sunlight ;)

Instructions for use :

1. Avoid intense midday sun.

2. Apply before sun exposure.

3. Reapply to maintain sun protection, especially after being in the water.

4. Apply sunscreen generously. Applying too little will reduce the level of protection.

5. Protect babies and small children from direct sunlight.

6. For babies and young children, use protective clothing and sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF greater than 25).

7. Even sunscreens with high sun protection factors do not provide complete protection against UV rays.
